Yep, glad these victims now have the courage and support to come forward. More power to them!

Another elder, another child abuse case....
by snare&racket in"a woman now in her 40s told detectives lawrence, an elder at mcalester's kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses, abused her when she was just eight years old, inviting her to his home, where he fondled her and raped her in his bathtub, according to her testimony found in lawrence's arrest warrant, which was issued tuesday.. two other accusers, also in their 40s, then came forward with similar stories of abuse.
both said they were very young, with one telling investigators the molestation took place from the time she was 10 until she was 13 years old.
she reported being assaulted in lawrence's swimming pool, at the lake and in the janitor's closet at the first national bank where he worked, his arrest warrant indicates.".

The elders came by and my DA letter
by Crazyguy inthe lead elder co of my hall said he was going to push for a jc meeting.
i could tell all along all hes interested in is protecting his god the org.. so i'm 90% sure now of going on the offesive and first having a family meeting telling them i'm offically quitting and how its going to play out and how i'll will be shunned even though i have commited no sin.
i also may explain a little of why and how i came to this decision with out bashing the org to much out of respect for my wife.

Nice letter which gets straight to your point. I wonder if a DA letter ever made an elder think?

Pecking Order in the Millennium
by Cold Steel inokay, the smoke has cleared.
everyone's dead who had it coming and the remainder find that their bodies have been changed.
no more disease, no more aging, no more human weaknesses and the weather is perfect.

We were always told not to speculate too much about the New System. While we were told to think about it, that is, picture a world in which you can pat tigers and meet your dead family members, everything else was kept pretty vague. We were told the 144k would rule us and that life as a JW now was preparing us for the New System. There were always plenty of pictures like the ones mentioned above of tranquil North American countrysides, but no details on how day-to-day life would work. So we'd speculate...but not too openly.
I have a feeling the Mormon leaders give their people much more detail, just from the Mormons I've spoken to. I'm sure when Jerusalem is restored to America or wherever, the Mormon leaders have made it so your people have a better idea, not just some vague promise of being able to learn a musical instrument, and pictures of children running to embrace their parents in front of huge fruit platters.

The reality is that the shit was brewing for a longtime and the assassination was just the flashpoint.
True. It was decades in the making as tensions between European powers and the struggle for markets and colonies intensified. It can be argued that WWI WAS indeed a turning point in history, but so was the Black Death and the Industrial Revolution.

So what types of people actually flourish under the JW regime?
by Julia Orwell ini sure as eggs know which types don't:.
creative types: to do well at a creative industry one must dedicate a lot of time to developing one's talent, and as a jw one simply doesn't have time.
since writing a story or painting a picture doesn't contribute in any way to prestudy, meetings or fs results it's considered useless anyway.

I sure as eggs know which types don't:
Creative types: to do well at a creative industry one must dedicate a lot of time to developing one's talent, and as a JW one simply doesn't have time. Since writing a story or painting a picture doesn't contribute in any way to prestudy, meetings or FS results it's considered useless anyway. The creative spirit whithers while it washes windows.
Compassionate/kindly types: They get stomped on.
Obliging people: Get given all the crappy 'privileges' because they're too obliging to say no.
Family types: it must be so hard to whip the kids into line for every meeting and deprive them of all the fun stuff. Then, you run the risk of having to shun your children when they're older.
Musical types: Modern music is evil. The music scene is said to be worldly and full of drugs. Also the same points for the other creative types.\
Itinerants: some people just don't like to settle in one spot. Think of nomadic cultures. But as a JW, you must be attached to a congregation in one spot.
Generous people: They'll wind up giving their money to a cult rather than to actually helping the needy.
People eager to please: End up depressed because Jehovah is never pleased, and the org tells you to do more, more more! A person eager to please can never please this mob.
Academically inclined people: Frustration! University is out, and so is losing yourself in a career that develops your mind.
Ambitious people: As a JW, you have a 'job' and not a career. You are expected to turn down promotions and not take any opportunities for advancement. Anything challenging takes time and mental energy away from witnessing and meetings.
Old people: There's no rest in their twilight years as they have to drag their tired bones out in field service and to meetings when they should be chilling in the garden.
Sporty people: Being a professional athlete is like creativity in that it takes a lot of commitment and development. JWs don't have time for that, nor are they supposed to 'pursue a worldly career' or be 'competitive.'
And I'm sure there are many more types. The denial of who all the above people are leads to empty, bare lives and depression.
So which types are there out there who actually do well under the JW regime?

Jehovah's Witness 70, stripped of all privileges, jailed for historic sex abuse against his young stepdaughter prior to being a Witness. Nelson, New Zealand
by Sol Reform inhttp://www.stuff.co.nz/nelson-mail/news/9458000/man-70-jailed-for-historic-sex-abuse.
man, 70, jailed for historic sex abuse james greenland last updated 13:00 29/11/2013.
share a nelson man has been jailed for six years for historical sex offences against his young stepdaughter.the victim spoke in the nelson district court at the sentencing of stephen robert carter, 70, this week.. she described the deep psychological trauma she had lived with as an adult as a result of his controlling and manipulative sexual abuse in the family home.. she explained the difficulty of living under a "burden of secrecy", unable to tell anyone about what carter did to her because of the effect it would have on his high standing within the nelson jehovah's witness congregation.. carter had admitted seven charges, including representative charges of rape, sodomy, inducing a girl under 12 to do an indecent act, permitting a girl under 12 to do an indecent act on another male, and counts of committing an indecency with an animal, and being party to an indecency with an animal.. the court heard that carter converted to christianity about three years after ceasing the sexual abuse, which he initiated under the false pretence of sexual education when his stepdaughter was 10 and 11.. in one of the first instances of "grooming", carter showed the victim his semen under a microscope, the court heard.
